By registering for Scottish and Southern Energy Networks free Priority Services, a dedicated team will contact you, or your nominated contact if they need to switch off your power to carry out essential maintenance.

Interruption to the water supply
Use the Scottish Water location search tool to check for supply issues in your area. You can contact Scottish Water on 0800 0778 778.
It's always a good idea to make sure you have an emergency water supply already. Think about filling some large plastic bottles with water in preparation.

If you can smell gas, please call the national gas emergency number on 0800 111 999.

Home emergency kit
A home emergency kit is one of the best ways to deal with the unexpected.
We recommend that all households build a small emergency kit and keep it in a safe place. This will help prepare you for a wide range of emergency situations, and minimise the stress or expense that unexpected events can bring.
Make sure that you include a copy of your household emergency plan. Ready Scotland has a plan template that you can download to your device or print out and keep in a safe place. It also includes an emergency kit checklist.

Travel emergency kit
This winter, make sure you know how to stay safe if you need to travel.
Keep an emergency kit in your car filled with items such as:
- Battery jump leads
- A blanket
- A first aid kit

Sign up for flood alerts
If you live in an area that's likely to flood, you may want to consider installing flood protection on your property. The Scottish Flood Forum provides advice and support for communities at risk of flooding.
Register to SEPA’s Floodline direct warning service to find out if you can receive Flood Alerts and/or Flood Warnings for your property. You will be given the quick dial number for the Flood Alert and/or Flood Warning area that relates to your registered property.

- Need documents translated into another format or language.
- Temporarily need extra support.
