NHS Fife can confirm that six people with links to East Neuk of Fife have tested positive for COVID-19.
All confirmed cases have mild symptoms and have been asked to isolate at home.
Contact tracers from the Test and Protect Team are in the process of identifying and tracing the known contacts of the positive cases to provide public health advice.
NHS Fife’s Health Protection Team is currently looking into any possibility a potential link between the cases and the Kinneuchar Inn in Kilconquhar. As such, those who visited the premises around the time that the positive case was present are being contacted and asked to remain vigilant of the signs and symptoms of COVID-19. Following a risk assessment based on the available information, we believe the risk of onward transmission to be low.
NHS Fife Deputy Director of Public Health, Dr Esther Curnock, said:
“Contact tracing is a tried and tested method of breaking the chains of transmission for communicable viruses such as COVID-19.
“It is important that anyone experiencing the well-established symptoms of COVID-19, such as a high temperature; a new, continuous cough; or a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste, arranges to be tested using the UK Government Citizens’ Portal or by calling 0800 028 2816.”
