NHS Fife has confirmed that it is to significantly expand parking provision at the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy.
There are currently more than 1000 publicly available parking spaces at the Victoria Hospital. Planning permission has been granted for the creation of an additional 139 spaces, with works planned to begin in early February 2021.
The spaces will be situated on the south east of the hospital site, expanding what is currently Car Park L. It is anticipated that the works will be completed by the end of March 2021.
NHS Fife Director of Estates, Facilities and Capital Services, Andrew Fairgrieve, said:
“We are acutely aware of the pressures on car parking at the Victoria, and the effects this has on patients, hospital visitors and those living in the vicinity of the hospital.
“We have been looking for some time to find a means of expanding the parking compliment at the hospital, whilst adhering to the planning regulations in place. We are particularly pleased, therefore, that we have been granted permission to create additional spaces by expanding Car Park L on the on the south western edge of the hospital grounds.
“We anticipate that the additional spaces will be available by spring 2021 and we hope this will provide considerable benefit to patients, staff and visitors alike.”
