Previously the app was only available for newer iPhone models, but updates have been made to enable even more people in Scotland to download the app.
As a reminder the free Protect Scotland App from NHS Scotland’s Test and Protect is available to download on protect.scot and via the App Store and Google Play. Since its launch last September we have had over 1.8 million downloads, and the app continues to be one of our key tools to help stop the spread of coronavirus and help keep Scotland safe. The Protect Scotland App complements existing contact tracing measures and provides additional support to manual contact tracing, identifying close contacts that could have otherwise been missed.
With the emergence of new COVID-19 variants, it’s now even more important to download and use the Protect Scotland app. As we move out of lockdown and social interaction increase, the app will help us alert people at risk as quickly as possible, which will help us slow the spread and help to protect family friends and the community. The more of us that use it, the better it will work.
