We’re digging a little deeper into the project in the first of a series of features, in our new Delve feature news section, looking at Orthopaedics in Fife, firstly through the lens of the new elective treatment centre in our Centre of Orthopaedic excellence article and then we explore how we got to this point in a separate article Orthopaedics in Fife.
The project involves the creation of a state-of-the-art facility hosting 3 operating theatres, a supporting inpatient ward and associated outpatient facilities. It’s the culmination of a great deal of work by a large project team made up of the orthopaedic surgeons, doctors, nurses, sponsors, building contractors and other project partners and many other staff members.
The Fife Elective Orthopaedic Centre is the largest capital project that NHS Fife has undertaken since the opening of the new wing of the Victoria Hospital in 2012 and the project expected to take around 18 months to complete.
