Members of NHS Fife’s Board recently undertook an in-depth tour of Queen Margaret Hospital to meet staff and learn more about the breadth of activity taking place on the site.
Led by director of acute services, Claire Dobson, the Board members visited Ophthalmology, Endoscopy and the Urology Diagnostic and Treatment Centre. The tour also visited theatres, which is currently undergoing significant renovation, to learn about some of the new and pioneering day surgery techniques being performed at Queen Margaret Hospital ahead of anywhere else in Scotland.
Director of the Fife Health and Social Care Partnership, Nicky Connor, also gave Board members an in-depth tour of many of the areas managed by the Fife’s community services. Members visited the hospital’s Forensic Suite, where they met with Fife’s gender-based violence nurse specialists. The tour also visited the Carnegie Unit to meet with podiatry staff before visiting Wards 1, 5 and 6, which are the main in-patient areas of the hospital.
The tour finished with Board members attending a special gathering in The Haven garden at Queen Margaret Hospital to mark the 75th anniversary of the NHS. You can read more about that event here.
