In line with Boards across Scotland, and as part of our contingency planning, it was necessary to postpone a number of outpatient and non-urgent surgical appointments due to the previously announced industrial action by junior doctors planned for 12 -14 July 2023.
Following the announcement late on Friday afternoon (07/07) that the planned industrial action had been stepped down, all of our directorates have been working to reinstate as many of the postponed appointments as possible. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to reinstate all of the planned activity, with those originally scheduled for 12 and 13 July most likely to be affected.
Patients who have been advised that their appointment had been postponed should not attend for their appointment unless contacted by us and advised to do so. In the meantime, should patients have any concerns regarding their condition or worsening symptoms, they are being advised to contact their Specialty/Consultant’s Secretary using the contact details in their appointment letter.
We would like to thank our patients and staff for their understanding and apologise for any inconvenience caused. All appointments which cannot be reinstated for the original date will be rescheduled as soon as possible.
