QMH Minor Injuries Unit

Essential work to replace the stand-by generator at Queen Margaret Hospital is being carried out on the evening of Saturday 8 June.

For this planned work to take place the power will be temporarily shut off, affecting all departments and services in Phase Two building of the hospital, including Minor Injuries Unit and the Urgent Care Service.

The work is scheduled to start from 7.00pm on Saturday 8 June and be completed by 10.00pm on Saturday night.

Contingency arrangements are in place for all affected departments and services.

This essential work will mean that the Minor Injuries Unit at QMH will close over night from 7.00pm, rather than the current 10.00 pm and will re-open at normal hours, from 7.30am on Sunday 9 June. During the period of the closure, appointments will be taking place at alternative sites.

Urgent Care Services will be operating with appointments taking place in alternative sites. Urgent Care Service appointments from Dunfermline will resume from 10.00 pm on the evening of Saturday 8 June.

As is normal advice and current practice during this time any member of the public should continue to:

Call NHS 24 on 111 for an injury or urgent but not life-threatening concern

• For non–urgent concerns visit www.nhsfife.org/rightcare for self-care advice and resources

• Always dial 999 in a life-threatening emergency.

Following the completion of the works there will be a phased reinstatement of all other services in Phase Two.
