Breast Screening Social Media Assets 2024 Xxxx5

In Scotland the NHS offers routine breast screening to women aged 50 to 70. Those who are eligible are invited every three years and the process typically takes around 10 minutes.

Breast screening doesn't prevent cancer but it helps to detect cancers at an early stage when they are too small to see or feel. It is also important to check your body regularly to help spot any changes to your breasts early. If you notice any changes, your GP wants to know.

  • Appointments are always carried out by a female mammographer
  • Appointments take 10 minutes
  • If you're between 50 and 70 you'll be invited for breast screening every 3 years

Breast screening is a test for breast cancers that are too small to see or feel and screening prevents around 1300 deaths in the UK each year.
