Marie Moorelands and friends, all members of a local ladies rotary, raised the money for Fife Health Charity and several other worthy causes too, by hosting a ladies day at the Glen Pavilion in Dunfermline.
Raffles, auctions and the entry fees contributed to the fantastic total for the charities, and the group asked that the total raised for Fife Health Charity be used to be put towards funding a SNOW bed.
These beds – affectionately known as cuddle beds – are bigger beds which allow loved ones to be close to one another, without interfering with any medical equipment, but are not standard NHS equipment and the funding comes from Fife Health Charity.
Teresa Robertson, Senior Charge Nurse at the hospice, explained: “We are so grateful to all of the ladies who took part for raising this tremendous amount.
“We were delighted to welcome Marie Moorelands and friends from the rotary to the hospice after the event when they handed over their cheque for the amazing total raised and learned the hospice relies on donations, through Fife Health Charity, to be able to purchase these specialist beds for our patients.
"We really can’t thank them enough for everything they’ve done.”
Mark McGeachie from Fife Health Charity added: "This is an incredible fundraising effort and we are very grateful to receive this wonderful donation to enhance the fantastic care and support for patients and families from the team at Victoria Hospice. As well as cuddle beds, our funding enables patients to experience complementary therapies, access to a beautiful garden space as well as enabling the team to deliver bereavement support for young people and their families and much more.”
