Following a competitive recruitment process, NHS Fife is pleased to announce the appointment of Susan Dunsmuir as its new Director of Finance. Susan will assume the role on 1st April 2025, succeeding the current Director of Finance, Margo McGurk, who announced last year her intention to retire after a distinguished career in the NHS.
Susan brings over 20 years of finance experience to the role, and is currently Director of Finance and Corporate Services at the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA).
Having started her financial career within Financial Services, Susan then moved to Fife College holding a number of posts over 12 years, culminating in Deputy Principal and Chief Finance Officer.
Susan, a graduate of Edinburgh Napier University, has built a strong reputation for delivering robust financial strategies. She currently lives in Dalgety Bay with her husband and two sons.
NHS Fife Chief Executive, Carol Potter welcomed Susan Dunsmuir to the NHS Fife team;
“We are delighted to welcome Susan as NHS Fife’s new Director of Finance. Susan brings a wealth of experience from the public and third sector. Her expertise will be invaluable as we work to ensure financial sustainability while continuing to provide high-quality care to the people of Fife.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Margo McGurk for her outstanding contribution to NHS Fife and the wider NHS in Scotland during a long standing career of public service. Margo joined NHS Fife just as Covid 19 was emerging and her leadership, expertise, and commitment have been instrumental in guiding us through the complex financial challenges during and post-pandemic. We wish her all the best in her well-deserved retirement.”
Susan Dunsmuir on acknowledging her appointment:
“I am honoured to have been appointed as Director of Finance at NHS Fife. I look forward to working with my new colleagues across the organisation as we navigate our challenging financial position and continue to strive for financial sustainability. I am committed to ensuring NHS Fife’s values and strategic objectives remain at the heart of everything we do, supporting the delivery of excellent care for the people of Fife.”
Margo McGurk will continue in her role until April 2025, ensuring a smooth transition and continuity in leadership during this important period for NHS Fife.
