Congratulations to Iain Rivans, Pharmacist at Victoria Hospital who has won a national Unsung Hero Award after going the extra mile for a patient.

Iain picked up the award in the Patient’s Choice Category at a ceremony in Manchester after being nominated by a patient who was undergoing chemotherapy.

Iain was recognised for the incredible support he provided in helping the patient receive medication at home, including checking on the patient outwith normal working hours.

The patient cited Iain’s kindness and willingness to go above and beyond.

Iain said: “I was pretty emotional. I was crying when I went up on the stage. It just brought a bit of recognition about the things I have done.”

The Unsung Hero Awards are the only UK-wide awards to recognise Non-Medical and NHS Healthcare Staff and Volunteers who go above and beyond the call of duty.
