A new commemorative bench has been unveiled at the Victoria Hospital in memory of a popular member of staff who passed away earlier this year.

Nora O’Connor was a domestic supervisor in the Maternity Unit at Victoria Hospital before dying unexpectedly in April 2018. Having worked previously at Forth Park Hospital, Nora moved to the Victoria with the opening of the new maternity unit in 2012.

Nora was very well liked by those she worked alongside, so much so in fact that a collection was started by her colleagues with the aim of creating a lasting memento in her honour.

Around £500 was raised by her colleagues in domestic services and other areas. The money raised was used to commission a commemorative bench near to Nora’s former colleagues in the Maternity Unit, where she continues to be missed.

The bench has now been unveiled by a number of Nora’s former colleagues in domestic servicesfor all staff and visitors to enjoy
