NHS Fife Podiatry Department prides itself on patient involvement and patient education.

We have a variety of patient information leaflets which can be found at the bottom of this page under the publications heading.  The leaflets will offer guidance and advice on our services and how you can help to maintain your own foothealth.

We want to enable you to keep your feet healthy!

Improving Foot Health

NHS Fife Podiatrists understand that everyone is unique and therefore are committed to providing the highest standard of “Person Centred” care appropriate to your individual needs and requirements.

Using our professional care aims approach when developing treatment plans, our knowledge and expertise can help you reach your goals through effective communication, clinical reasoning and decision making. 

Following a set of tried and tested principles this ensures the best outcome to promote independence, autonomy and the best possible result for you.

Our belief is that evidence based practice is key to enhance the patient journey and the resulting personal empowerment.

Promoting foot health relies on you making good choices about your lifestyle in order to prevent foot problems arising or to limit any harm or injury. 

During your appointment you will be given individual verbal and written advice.  You will be actively involved in all aspects of your treatment and with the support of podiatrists jointly plan your treatment and agree goals in order to manage your own condition.  We will help you to keep your feet healthy!

The podiatry service participates in many local, regional and national improving health events.  This includes:

  • healthy school initiatives
  • foot health week
  • safe working lives
  • falls preventation 
  • carer enablement projects.

Feet For life - The aim of the Feet For Life Campaign is to raise awareness amongst the general public that good foot health is an essential component to quality of life and podiatry is a key element of preventative medicine.

Active Options 2 - Active Options 2 is a programme of health classes which is based on the amount of physical activity you are able to do rather than any long term condition you have. The classes are suitable for people with different physical abilities and are led by highly trained and experienced instructors who are able to tailor exercises to suit any participant.

Bums Off Seats - a Fife Walking Initiative who provide free local health walking opportunities in Fife and all walks are led by a trained team of Volunteer Walk Leaders.

Winning By Losing - Fife’s first and only weight management programme which combines physical activity and healthy eating advice to get long-term results.

Fife Walking Club - Fife Walking Club has been establish for over 20 years, providing the opportunity for walkers of all ages and abilities to enjoy a year round programme of walks.
