Air Travel in Pregnancy
All women are reminded to discuss any plans to travel by air with their obstetrician or midwife (Long road or train journeys may also need to be discussed as sitting for long periods may contribute to DVT's or blood clots in legs ).
Airlines and/or insurance companies will ask you for a "fit to fly" certificate.
- This is available at the hospital Antenatal Clinic. ·
- There is a charge for this certificate.
(Air travel is not recommended after 34 weeks of pregnancy)
Please make an appointment at the Antenatal Clinic if you need a certificate, do not just turn up.(Let us know that is what you are attending for). You will also have to call at the Cashiers Office before the appointment to pay for the certificate.
