Revalidation is being introduced by the NMC in April 2016 and builds on current PREP requirements, this is a three yearly cycle and not a one-off event. The revalidation process requires all registered nurses and midwives (registrants) to evidence their professional development and ongoing fitness to practise; complying with the NMC revalidation requirements and the Code (2015).
- All registrants have an individual responsibility to ensure they are prepared for revalidation. This includes registering for NMC Online to confirm their 'Renewal Expiry' or Revalidation date.
- The most up to date information on revalidation is available from the NMC website
- NHS Fife are responsible for ensuring that registrants within the organisation are aware of the NMC revalidation requirements and have access to support and information to help collate and document the evidence required by the NMC. We will also ensure robust systems are in place to enable the professional development discussion and confirmation process.
By working together we hope that the process of revalidation can be introduced smoothly, without risk to the registrant or the organisation, to provide assurance to the public that the registered nurses and midwives within NHS Fife are safe and fit to deliver high quality care.
