What is physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is a healthcare profession that promotes health and wellbeing. Physiotherapists assess and treat a variety of conditions, which may arise as a result of illness, accident, ageing or disability. Physiotherapy takes a holistic approach to restore movement and function.

What is the children and young people’s physiotherapy service?

We are a team of physiotherapists and technical instructors that provide physiotherapy to children and young people across Fife. We see children from birth to the age of 18, while still at school. Any child can be referred to physiotherapy. An information leaflet about the C&YP Physiotherapy Service can be found under the publications section below.

Some conditions we help to treat:

  • Musculoskeletal conditions e.g. anterior knee pain, ankle instability, lower back pain
  • Rheumatological conditions e.g. juvenile idiopathic arthritis
  • Respiratory conditions e.g. cystic fibrosis
  • Neurological conditions e.g. cerebral palsy
  • Congenital conditions e.g. spina bifida
  • Walking problems
  • Developmental problems e.g. delay in walking

Further information on the above conditions can be found under the publications section below.
