The role of Performance and IMPACT is to provide ‘value added’ support to operational teams in NHS Fife and Fife Health and Social Care Partnership to accelerate the delivery of key corporate objectives. Improving quality is at the heart of what we do.
Our team approach is centred on improving quality of care and services to our patients and aims to support transformational change through effective engagement, positive culture change and effective communication alongside a systematic understanding of services through data.
The key areas of focus for the team will be the delivery of the NHS Fife Clinical Strategy and the HSCP Strategic Plan alongside the financial efficiencies agreed within the Local Delivery Plan (LDP).
Project work often cuts across traditional boundaries and requires people to come together to focus on achieving specific project objectives; effective teamwork is essential. The purpose of Project Management is to manage the visible and invisible teams in order to achieve the objectives agreed with the project sponsors and stakeholders.
Good Project Management makes things happen. Projects are more likely to be delivered on time, within budget and deliver agreed success criteria and objectives. To help facilitate this, a Project Management software system will be utilised by IMPACT to support the delivery of our key organisational objectives.
Quality Improvement (QI) Team provides a formal approach to designing and redesigning services/work processes and systems that deliver health and care with better patient outcomes and lower cost, wherever this can be achieved, using a wide variety of QI tools and methods.
Expertise of Team: leading and managing change, programme/project management, Knowledge of QI tools and techniques, developing organisational capability though training, coaching and mentoring etc, data analysis, measurement for improvement, facilitation skills within the context of delivering patient centred care.
Strategic Planning & Performance
Strategic planning sets the longer term direction of travel of the organisation, setting out what it’s going to do to fulfil its purpose, achieve its vision and goals and abide by its values. This is essential in order to deliver quality, sustainable healthcare objectives over the coming years. Specific measurable milestones allows performance against planning objectives to be monitored.
The Strategic Planning and Performance department can support you to develop your project plan in line with these key strategic documents, consider the impact of proposed changes and anticipated outcomes and translate your service objectives into actions. Data and information to underpin strategic decision making is key and measurable indicators of performance identified at the outset and built into workplans.

Provides organisational consultancy and coaching services to assist people leading service changes and developments to alter and improve the quality of services to the public. The help provided is focussed initially on the diagnosis of the issues to be addressed, then moves to design and facilitation of conversational and leadership processes required to overcome disagreements and dilemmas and reach resolutions and results. Leadership theory and development is woven into the work as required. Review is the final activity.
Expertise of Team:
Consultancy and coaching support for leaders focussed on their strategic direction, change programmes and projects. Critical reasoning /analysis skills, offered to assist leaders with the diagnosis of issues to be resolved. Advice can be given on the use of and delivery of, psychometric tools. Design and delivery of tailored Leadership development for specific individuals or groups.
This team is here to support services with activities which promote good clinical decision making supported by establishing reporting processes and arrangements; escalation processes, using a risk management approach and utilising continuous improvement methods to improve the quality and safety of care.
Expertise of Team: risk management, clinical effectiveness, patient safety and business continuity.
Communications & Corporate Services
The Communications function covers a broad range of activities to ensure the organisation communicates effectively with all internal and external stakeholders. The team produces corporate publications, handles media relations and manages the intranet, internet and social media channels. The department also offers support to staff requiring media coaching and advises on reputational risk. The team can support your project with a communications plan designed to ensure the right people get the right message at the right time.
Expertise of Team:
Campaign strategy and planning. Web, print, video and audio content production. media relations, stakeholder mapping, social media, publications design and distribution (posters, leaflets, newsletters).
