
Course Description
High quality and effective BLS/AED is the most important component of resuscitation. Without early recognition of cardiac arrest and prompt CPR and defibrillation, survival rates are significantly reduced. Regular mandatory BLS/AED training is essential for all healthcare professionals with a formal duty of care.
Who the programme is for:
BLS/AED Level 2 – Clinical Staff: suitable for all clinical staff delivering patient care and therapy to adults across NHS Fife i.e. nurses, health care support workers, allied health professionals, doctors, mental health staff and many other clinical staff.

Early recognition of cardiac arrest
Seeking help
Prompt initiation of CPR using the latest RCUK guidelines
High quality chest compressions +/- rescue breaths
Safe-Defibrillation using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
Effective teamwork
