
Course Description
This is an RCUK accredited course providing knowledge and skills to recognise, escalate and treat a deteriorating patient, and how to recognise and initiate treatment of a patient in cardiac arrest, until the arrival of the Medical Emergency Team/emergency services.
Who the programme is for:
e-ILS Level 3 – Registered Clinical Staff: suitable for 2222 pager holders, site first responders and clinical staff working across areas where patients are at increased risk of deterioration and cardiac arrest, i.e. Acute Admissions Units, High Dependency Units, Intensive Care Unit and the Emergency Department.
This course covers:
Identification of causes, and promoting the prevention of cardiac arrest
Recognition and treatment of deteriorating patients using an ABCDE approach
Effective CPR and defibrillation in a cardiac arrest scenario
Working successfully as a team during cardiac arrest
Prior requirements
Pre-course preparation:
e-ILS is an RCUK accredited face to face course. Courses must be scheduled at least 2 weeks in advance and pre-course manuals will be sent on booking. Certificates shall not be released until all aspects of training for this skill are fully competed
Pre-requisite:
Adult BLS/AED Level 2 – Clinical Staff
