Course Description
This programme is for all Healthcare Practitioners band 3 and above and aims to provide the Healthcare Practitioner with the knowledge required to safely and competently perform intramuscular injection for vaccine administration.
The Intramuscular Injection Technique – Vaccine administration self-directed education pack is designed to support healthcare practitioners in their study, enabling them to work at their own pace, learning and increasing their knowledge of vaccination with particular reference to the administration of an intramuscular injection. To support further learning, activities are included throughout the workbook to encourage reflection, clinical decision making and develop upon observational and cognitive skills.
It may be appropriate following a patient assessment having been undertaken by a Registered Healthcare Practitioner for the intramuscular injection technique for vaccine administration to be delegated to a HealthCare Support Worker (HCSW) who has successfully completed the relevant aspects of an NHS Fife approved training programme.
