Outside normal working hours, if you feel that you have an urgent dental need, please call NHS24 on 111, regardless of whether or not you are registered with a dentist.
Primary care dentistry is usually the first point of contact for patients seeking dental care. You will know this simply as your dental practice if registered. However, most of these dentists are independent general dental practitioners working on behalf of NHS Fife. These dentists are independent contractors and own their own businesses. This means that many dental practices undertake private treatments along with their contracted NHS dental services.
In Fife, the practices listed at the bottom of this page offer NHS services.
As a result of the current challenges around dentistry provision in Fife and across Scotland, very few dental practices are in a position to register new NHS dental patients.
If you do not have a dentist because you are not registered or have been recently de-registered, please contact NHS Fife Dental Advice Line on 01592 226555 or by email at fife.dentaladviceline@nhs.scot for advice and help registering.
NHS Fife’s Public Dental Service provides an alternative service to independent dentists to help meet the oral health needs of the local population. It also offers referral services for dental anxiety, oral surgery, special needs, paediatric dentistry and dental General Anaesthetics. More information can be found on the public dental services page
There have been changes to NHS Dentistry services across Scotland since 1 November 2023.
