What walking aids and equipment can I return?
- Walking Frames
- Crutches
- Sticks
- Bath Aids
- Toilet Aids
- Chairs
- Trolleys
When you or your relative no longer require this equipment you will be able to return it to a local Recycling Centre. The equipment can then be refurbished and used again if it is in good condition.
What happens at the recycling centre?
You should ask one of the site staff to open the correct recycling container for you.
It will be clearly labelled.
It may look something like this.
Why recycle my walking aid?
We run a scheme to recycle walking aids because:
A reused walking aid is 87% lower in carbon emissions than a new walking aid.
98% of returned walking aids can be refurbished and reused.
By handing in your walking stick, you can help someone else to get back on their feet and reduce your carbon footprint.
Why can’t I return my aid to the hospital or clinic?
If you are returning for outpatient appointments, the team may agree with you that it’s time to leave your walking aid with us, and we'll get it sanitised and ready to support the next patient.
Otherwise, please return your aids to your local recycling centre, so they can be properly cleaned and refurbished, ready for the next patient.
