Our urology department provides a state-of-the art service covering all aspects of urology: Oncology, laparoscopy, urolithiasis, reconstruction, incontinence, Benign prostate enlargement (BPH), minimally invasive surgery. The department consists of nine consultants each with subspecialist interest as well as their year's of experience in general urology. We also have three numbered trainees (East of Scotland Deanery) and three middle grades, as well as a fully staffed nurse specialist body. We pride ourselves in being the only centre in Scotland to provide a comprehensive BPH service and state of the art procedures and therapies including Urolift, REZUM, Greenlight, HoLEP, PAE and extra-anatomical subcutaneous urinary diversion for nephrostomy (urine bag) dependent patients.
All branches of urological oncology (cancer) surgery are covered as well as reconstructive urology (incontinence and, ureteric and urethral reconstruction).
The department also has close academic links with The University of St Andrews and has medical education at the heart of its activities and is a popular destination for surgical training.
