We are proud to be a part of Health Innovation South East Scotland (HISES).
What is Innovation?
Health innovation is to develop and deliver new or improved health policies, systems, products and technologies, and services and delivery methods that improve people’s health. - World Health Organisation
What we do
As part of the collaboration we aim to provide information and support departments with innovative projects that lead to service improvements, new products and technologies, and better outcomes for patients in and around NHS Fife.
Innovation in NHS Fife
Jack and Jill Theatres, Ophthalmology Unit, Queen Margaret Hospital
The Jack and Jill theatres were developed to maximise the space in the Ophthalmology Unit, reduce the waiting time for eye surgeries, and ensure patients could have their surgery locally.
Recovery Area for Dementia Patients
The Dementia Unit now features a Mural (spanning across 48 feet) of a tranquil Scottish loch side within the recovery area. Created using high contrast painting techniques. Local artist Karen Masters worked alongside theatre staff and Specialist Dementia Nurses to create a space that would minimise patient anxiety when they awake from surgery.
Orthopaedic Centre, Victoria Hospital
This project is not yet complete, and will ensure that there is a dedicated space for the Orthopaedic department within the grounds of Victoria Hospital. This will include a separate out-patient department, pre-assessment unit, and theatres.
