The Experience Medicine programme offers prospective Medicine applicants (transitioning from S5 to S6) the opportunity to get hands-on work experience in a medical setting.

- A current S6 pupil, recently having completed S5
- Considering studying medicine
- Available for one week this summer (4 July – 26 August 2022)
If you can answer yes to the above questions, then the Experiencing Medicine Programme run by St Andrews University in conjunction with NHS Fife is for you. This programme has been designed to give you the chance to find out just what a career in Medicine involves.
Course content
It will take you through MMI interview skills practice, provide you with clinical work experience and include sessions key areas of the medical profession i.e. communications skills, trust and ethics.
Course duration and location
The course duration is one week, a week that will prepare you to apply to university and provide you with real life experiences that you can refer to when writing your personal statement. Placements last one week and run from Monday-Friday at the Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy. Students will be expected to make their own travel arrangements* and be available for the full week between 8am and 6pm.
*Some funding may be available to support with travel costs – this will be administered on a case-by-case basis.
